I gave a zoom talk recently to the Florida Bibliophile Society about antiquarian bookseller Dorothy Sloan (1943-2021). She was an important mentor in my youth. The focus is the acquisition of the core of her reference library and portions of her archive. Jerry Morris, president of the FBS, provides the introduction and the ending presentation. There were a couple of technical glitches, but all's well that ends well.
Here is the youtube link (talk approx. 37 minutes).
Thank you Kurt- that was fantastic. And even greater is the news of your upcoming 'posts' on Dorothy Sloan. History has shown your writings aren't really mere blog 'posts' but wonderful, historical articles. Your talk and your writings about Dorothy Sloan will keep the memory of her life alive. You are so on point that when we lose a great bookseller or collector their lives seem to vanish much too quickly. Thank you for all your efforts (and Nicole's patience) to preserve them!! I believe everyone would have loved to have seen the look on your wife's face when the Semi truck showed up in the neighborhood and you casually mentioned that some books you bought had arrived.
